Bulgaria will study the possibilities for future supplies of natural gas from the State of Israel

A joint working group between the Republic of Bulgaria and the State of Israel will consider issues of mutual interest in the field of energy. These include protecting energy infrastructure against physical, electromagnetic and cyber threats; the study of options for future supplies of natural gas from the State of Israel to the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as to other countries; exploration and production of natural gas and other hydrocarbon energy resources.

This is provided by the draft Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of energy between the line ministries of the two countries, approved by the government at today's meeting. According to the document, the countries should encourage businesses from both countries to expand investment and trade in the energy sector.

The deepening of the bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Bulgaria and the State of Israel in the field of energy is determined by the priorities of our country for diversification of the sources and routes for natural gas supply. Bulgaria considers the Eastern Mediterranean and the State of Israel as a potential source of natural gas in fulfillment of these priorities.

By building interconnections with neighboring countries and specifically - the gas interconnector Greece-Bulgaria, Bulgaria will have the opportunity for future supplies of pipeline and liquefied natural gas, including from the State of Israel.
