Families saved BGN 900 each during the 2021-2022 heating season by using gas instead of electricity
Families saved an average of BGN 900 during the 2021-2022 heating season by using natural gas instead of electricity. This is shown by the bills of residential customers of "Overgaz Networks" from October 2021 to April 2022.
The households that chose the blue fuel paid approximately BGN 1,400 each during the cold months. If the gas consumers had used the same amount of electricity to keep the temperatures high in their homes, they would have paid BGN 2,313.
Despite the increase in the price of natural gas, it continues to be the more profitable energy source. Domestic consumers who opted for wood pellets paid an average of BGN 2,026 for heating last winter, which is BGN 626 more than they would have spent if they used blue fuel.
