The audit carried out covers the costs incurred from the beginning of the implementation of the grant agreement - 08.01.2019 until the end of the second reporting period 31.12.2020. Within the scope of the audit, a review of the accounting and project management systems of "Bulgartransgaz" EAD was carried out and the relevant documentation. Compliance with the applicable legislation of the EU and the Republic of Bulgaria has been confirmed for the verified public procurement related to the implementation of the project. The full amount of the reimbursement costs claimed by the company has also been confirmed.
Recommendations and instructions have been received regarding the reporting of the activities and costs of the project, which will be applied both in the final reporting of the audited project and in relation to the other CINEA-financed projects that Bulgartransgaz EAD is implementing - the expansion of the Chiren gas pipeline and the interconnector Bulgaria-Serbia.
The grant funding with European funds and the cooperation between Bulgartransgaz and CINEA contribute to the effective and timely implementation of projects of common interest to the EU. The projects implemented by the Bulgarian gas transmission operator in cooperation with the EU guarantee energy security and the diversification of gas supplies for Bulgaria and the region, the operator of the gas transmission network recalls.
