Prime Minister Denkov: Azerbaijan is our valuable partner

"Azerbaijan is our valuable partner. Our cooperation is strong not only in energy, but also in the spheres of economy, education and culture". With these words, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov welcomed Prof. Sahiba Gafarova - Speaker of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Council of Ministers.

The highlight of the conversation was the intersystem gas connection Greece-Bulgaria opened last year; the government information service announced. The interconnector is of primary importance for the diversification of natural gas sources both for Bulgaria and for the entire region of Central and Southeastern Europe. Through it, our country receives the agreed quantities of Azerbaijani natural gas in full volume.

Denkov pointed out that Bulgaria is interested in opportunities for wider development of bilateral relations in the field of transport connectivity, which would help facilitate trade between Europe and Asia.

The Prime Minister and Prof. Gafarova also noted the good cooperation in education. The guest shared her impressions of the Center for Azerbaijani Language and Culture at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", which she visited earlier today. The center has been operating for a decade and through it many Bulgarian students get the opportunity to get acquainted with the language and culture of Azerbaijan.
