Prime Minister Denkov allowed Bulgaria to be admitted to the Eurozone from the middle of next year
The date of January 1, 2025 for Bulgaria's entry into the Eurozone is not "sacred", Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov told Darik Radio, in which Deputy Prime Minister Maria Gabriel participated.
"There is nothing fatal if it happens not from January 1, but from July 1, and that is possible. The date is not sacral, it is sacral to have a clear direction and work on it. This is beneficial for business, for citizens, for increasing welfare and control over financial institutions," said the Prime Minister.
Denkov emphasized that the government is working to make the accession happen as soon as possible.
The prime minister explained that during his talks in Davos it became clear that the only problem facing us entering the Eurozone is inflation, which is linked to external factors such as fuel and food prices. Inflation continues to fall, but, unfortunately, in the Eurozone it is generally lower and therefore it is more difficult to fit into the requirements, explained Nikolay Denkov.
That is why Bulgaria is also negotiating for the inflation indicator to be evaluated later in the year, added Denkov. The report itself, which will determine if and when an invitation will be sent to our country to join the Eurozone, is expected to be presented in June.
