President Rumen Radev met with representatives of the "Movement for Rights and Freedoms" parliamentary group within the framework of the constitutional procedure for holding consultations with the parties of the 49th National Assembly
In the process of forming a government, it is necessary to seek answers to key questions and to clarify important positions of the parties. This was stated by the head of state Rumen Radev at the beginning of his meeting today in the presidential institution with representatives of the parliamentary group of "Movement for Rights and Freedoms". Today and tomorrow, the president is holding consultations with representatives of the political forces in the 49th National Assembly in accordance with the constitutional procedure. Vice President Iliana Yotova also participated in the meeting.
The President recalled that, without officially being part of the government, the DPS parliamentary group has actively supported the ruling majority over the past 9 months, including on the most important decisions taken by the 49th National Assembly. "This created prerequisites for a number of analyzes and interpretations, which are also projected on the negotiation process between the partners GERB and PP-DB, including on the subject of the nuances regarding the floating majorities," the head of state pointed out.
Rumen Radev asked the representatives of the "Movement for Rights and Freedoms" parliamentary group the question of how they see the role of the DPS in the next rotation period, in case it comes to one. "Standing close to both GERB-SDS and PP-DB, how do you assess the chance of reaching an agreement to form a government with the first term and if it fails, do you see an opportunity in the 49th National Assembly to look for another governing configuration asked the head of state.
