Planting trees is essential for the water cycle, for the quality and quantity of water. Evidence from practice shows that increasing green areas and promoting similar types of activities is a prerequisite for reducing floods, balancing river flows, ensuring better water quality, with less sediment and less pollutants, compared to with other watersheds lacking trees.

With this and other activities and initiatives, "Bulgarian Waterworks Holding" EAD will continue its commitment to work in support of the "Water Supply and Sewerage" sector, with the aim of improving services and water quality, as well as achieving long-lasting results.

World Water Day is celebrated annually on March 22. The date was announced by the UN General Assembly in 1993 and since then it has been celebrated with various initiatives around the world. This year, the UN motto is "Water for Peace", motivated by the importance and contribution of water as an invaluable natural resource vital to the protection of the environment and life.
