By the end of 2025, Bulgaria is expected to join the OECD

For the first time, Bulgaria has a specific deadline for joining the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). This was stated by Prime Minister Glavchev to journalists after his meeting with OECD Secretary General Matthias Korman. From Prime Minister Glavchev's conversation with General Secretary Korman, it became clear that the horizon for our country's acceptance is the end of next year 2025. A total of 31 reports of the OECD committees regarding Bulgaria have been adopted, 26 more remain.

Prime Minister Glavchev recalled that Bulgaria long ago declared its desire to join the OECD. During their meeting today, the Prime Minister personally thanked OECD Secretary General Marias Korman for the active dialogue with our country during his mandate.

Bulgaria has the ambition to go through the largest possible number of reviews in the OECD committees this year, and I hope that the accession process will be finalized as soon as possible. This was stated by Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev at his meeting with the Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Matthias Korman. The two spoke on the sidelines of the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in Paris.

Prime Minister Glavchev indicated that our country is ready for intensive negotiations. "We strive to implement the recommendations addressed to us," said Glavchev. He pointed out that at the second session of the OECD Global Parliamentary Network, which took place in April, the Bulgarian side confirmed its commitment to form a special parliamentary committee responsible for the discussion and adoption of legislation related to the process of our accession to the Organization.

Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev also emphasized Bulgaria's support to the regional initiatives of the OECD and in particular to the Regional Program for South-Eastern Europe. It promotes reforms in the region, with the aim of strengthening the private sector, attracting investment and preparing countries for EU membership and the implementation of OECD standards.

Prime Minister Glavchev also emphasized the readiness of our country for a voluntary financial contribution in support of Ukraine, by concluding an Agreement for participation in the OECD Program for the country. The agreement was ratified by the National Assembly on April 23 of this year.

In the course of the conversation, Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev specially thanked Secretary General Matthias Korman for his support and commitment in the process of Bulgaria's accession to the OECD. The Prime Minister also emphasized the excellent interaction with the OECD Secretariat and the Committees. Glavchev expressed his confidence that this active dialogue contributes to finding the most appropriate solutions based on the recommendations made.

When asked about yesterday's cancellation of the decision of the Council of Ministers to establish a private hospital, Prime Minister Glavchev pointed out that the argument for the cancellation was the created public tension, which he complied with.
