Minister Malinov checked the implementation of the planned annual repair of unit 6 of the Kozloduy NPP and key sites of ESO EAD

How are the activities for the scheduled annual repair of block 6 of the Kozloduy NPP carried out and what is the progress on the plant's preparation program for the upcoming winter season. This was verified on the spot by the Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov.

"The trouble-free operation of the Kozloduy NPP, which during the winter months provides more than a third of the national electricity production, is key to the security of the electricity system and consumers' access to reasonably priced electricity produced fully in line with the priorities of the Green Deal Minister Malinov pointed out during his visit to the headquarters. At a meeting with the management team of Kozloduy NPP EAD, he got acquainted with the current state of the repair and maintenance activities that ensure the operability of the unit's systems and facilities. In the engine room of the unit, Minister Malinov followed on the spot how the repair work planned for the day was carried out. All measures are implemented according to the approved schedule, it became clear during the inspection. The management of the Kozloduy NPP also informed Minister Malinov of the organizational and technical measures aimed at ensuring the reliable operation of the nuclear units during the winter season, including the availability of stocks of raw materials, materials and spare parts necessary for the normal operation of the nuclear power plant.

The project company for the construction of units 7 and 8 of the nuclear power plant - NPP "Kozloduy - New Powers" is currently continuing negotiations for signing an engineering contract with a consortium between the selected contractors Westighouse Electric Company and Hyundai Engineering and Construction. During his visit to Kozloduy NPP, Minister Malinov got acquainted with the progress in connection with the signing of this contract.

"The finalization of the contract as soon as possible is a key step towards the successful implementation of the large-scale project for new nuclear capacities, which will guarantee its realization within the set deadlines and budget", Minister Malinov also emphasized.

The inspections of the energy companies for the upcoming winter season continued with an inspection of the "Walchedrum" 110/20 kV substation of ESO EAD. The substation supplies the settlements of Valchedrum and Yakimovo municipalities on the territory of North-West Bulgaria, as well as the gas compressor station Rasovo. Currently, the substation is included in the project of ESO EAD for the introduction of automated management, which is being implemented in line with the National Plan for Recovery and Sustainability with a budget of BGN 611 million, of which BGN 370 million - from the Recovery and Sustainability Mechanism.

In the coming days, Minister Malinov's inspections of energy companies for their readiness for the upcoming winter season will continue.
