Bulgartransgaz EAD and nine gas transmission operators from CEE signed a Memorandum of Understanding on gas quality
Bulgartransgaz EAD and gas transmission system operators DESFA (Greece), FGSZ (Hungary), Gas TSO of Ukraine (Ukraine), ICGB AD (Bulgaria and Greece), Nomagas (North Macedonia), PLINACRO (Croatia), PLINOVODI (Slovenia), Transgaz (Romania) and Vestmoldtransgaz (Moldova) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to harmonize gas quality requirements. The document was signed in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, within the framework of a meeting of the Ministers of the Initiative for Energy Connectivity in Central and South-Eastern Europe CESEC. The Bulgarian gas transmission operator is among the initiators of the proposal to harmonize gas quality requirements at interconnection points in the CESEC countries.
The introduction of harmonized requirements will improve the integration, liquidity and competition of the markets in the Central and South-Eastern Europe region and will help to achieve the goals of the countries to diversify and secure gas supplies from various reliable sources, including LNG. The harmonization of gas quality requirements in the region is in synergy with the plans to expand the gas transmission infrastructure, including the projects that are part of the Vertical Gas Corridor initiative.
The signing of the memorandum is a step forward in the ambition of the gas operators to further improve the conditions for free cross-border transfer of natural gas.
