Deputy Minister Pavlov: Trade with Bavaria exceeds 2.2 billion euro and constitutes nearly 20% of the total trade turnover between Bulgaria and Germany

In recent years, the economic relations between Bulgaria and Bavaria have developed extremely dynamically. Bavaria is among the three German federal states with the largest investment presence in our country and the highest share in bilateral trade. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Nikolay Pavlov in his welcome during the traditional Bavarian evening, organized by the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GBITK).

The event was also attended by the ambassador of Germany to our country H.E. Irene Plank, the state secretary in the Bavarian State Ministry of the Economy Tobias Gotthard, Sonja Miklai, general manager of GBITK and nearly 100 representatives of Bavarian and Bulgarian companies. Bavaria is in 37th place among Bulgaria's trade partners, it became clear during the event.

Deputy - Minister Pavlov announced that in 2023 trade with Bavaria exceeds 2.2 billion euro and constitutes nearly 20% of the total trade turnover between Bulgaria and Germany. Only for the first six months of the current year, the positive trend is maintained and the exchange of goods reaches 1.3 billion. euro.

According to him, nearly 1,000 Bavarian companies with more than 260 representative offices are already developing production and commercial activities in our country. "Among them are internationally operating technological concerns, leading car manufacturers, banking and insurance institutions, as well as many small and medium-sized companies from various sectors of the economy," he pointed out.

The Economic Deputy Minister emphasized that there is potential and opportunities for successful cooperation and implementation of investment projects in sectors such as electronics, mechanical engineering, automotive industry, pharmacy, ICT, healthcare and others.

For his part, in his welcome, the State Secretary at the Bavarian State Ministry of Economy Tobias Gotthard pointed out that Bavaria will continue to be a reliable partner of Bulgaria.
