“A piece of news that should at least be a reason for reflection. US President Donald Trump signed four executive orders aimed at restoring the coal mining industry and preserving, saving and accelerating the development of coal-fired power plants”, said in a post in Facebook the businessman Hristo Kovachki.

“Standing in front of applauding miners, Trump literally said "We are restoring an abandoned industry. We will put miners back to work. We will make sure that our coal industry does not depend on changes in the world of politics. The executive orders also include work on the next generation of coal-related technologies."

In an eloquent ten-minute speech, he defined coal as a cheap and good way to produce energy. This was stated by energy expert Hristo Kovachki on his Facebook profile today.

World agencies commenting on the news point out that “demand for electricity in the US is increasing for the first time in two decades due to the growth of energy-intensive data centers for artificial intelligence, electric vehicles and cryptocurrencies”.

One may ask the question, where is Europe on the world energy map? What did the EU gain by imposing incredible carbon quotas and absurd requirements that almost killed coal mining – the resource that in the past made Europe a great industrial power? And where is Bulgaria, which did not close its coal-fired power plants for “a penny”?

Isn’t it clear that without cheap energy there can be no prosperous economy?

Isn’t it obvious that in Bulgaria coal is the only local and cheap energy resource? Does anyone pay attention to the new American technologies for extracting rare metals from coal?

The world is changing before our eyes, difficult times of global crises and trade wars await us, and it is time for statesmanlike and nationally responsible decisions!”
