Borissov: Bulgaria is already 100% energy independent and is becoming an unavoidable factor on the gas map in Europe
"Bulgaria is already 100% energy independent, no one can stop our tap or twist our arms. Our country is becoming an unavoidable factor on the gas map in Europe. With our gas highways, we enable everyone to receive gas, and transit fees remain for Bulgarians for 70 years. " This was stated by the Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, who inspected on site construction and installation works at the compressor station "Nova Provadia" along the route of Balkan Stream.
"We have the best compressors in the world of the American company Solar Turbines, reversible in all directions - North-South, South-North, East-West, West-East. These are the so-called gas highways at the Balkan gas hub, Prime Minister Borissov was quoted as saying by the press center of the Council of Ministers. The Prime Minister pointed out that along with other energy projects on the territory of our country, Bulgaria is on the gas map of Europe and the world and anyone who requests will be able to transport gas, added the press service.
"The interconnector with Greece is being built at full speed. "And if we add our priority gas storage Chiren, this year will be very good for the infrastructure in the gas sector," said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. "We have been listening to their talk for decades - now we can only show the next spectacular construction that is going on at the moment," said the Prime Minister.
The compressor station "Nova Provadia" is located in the village of Vetrino, Varna region and will be equipped with 4 compressor units with an installed capacity of 10 MW each type Mars 90. The new compressor units of the station "Nova Provadia" are of the latest generation, manufactured by the American company Solar Turbines, which is a leader in the sector. The units are equipped with low-emission combustion chambers, complying with the requirements of the environmental legislation in the part for the combustion installations, ensuring the observance of the admissible norms for emission of harmful pollutants in the atmospheric air. Nearly 250 people work at the site of CS "Nova Provadia".
At the end of 2020, the first of the two compressor stations on the route of Balkan Stream - CS "Rasovo" was put into operation, which is equipped with 3 compressor units with an installed capacity of 12 MW, each type Mars 100, manufactured by the American company Solar Turbines.
The construction of a compressor station "Nova Provadia" is the last stage of the project "Expansion of the gas transmission infrastructure from the Bulgarian-Turkish border to the Bulgarian-Serbian border." Its implementation will increase the security of natural gas supplies from various sources, increase competition and transparency in the natural gas market. As a key project for market integration, Balkan Stream will contribute to guaranteeing natural gas supplies to the country and the region, while creating real conditions for diversification of sources and routes and the possibility of transporting additional quantities of natural gas to and through Bulgaria.
