One third of the electricity produced in our country is currently exported to neighboring countries. This was said by the executive director of the Bulgarian Energy Holding Valentin Nikolov to BNR. According to him, in order to reduce the risk of rising electricity prices for the industry, additional capacity has been loaded. This happened in recent weeks, after units were included in the state-owned Maritsa East 2 TPP.

"Currently, the export is about 1,950 megawatts, figuratively speaking - Kozloduy NPP works entirely for export. This shows that there is a deficit in the region, not in Bulgaria, and that this deficit is filled mostly by the Bulgarian energy. Maritsa East 2 TPP works with six units. The other two cannot be put into operation because they are under scheduled repairs," Nikolov recalled.

"So we are doing everything possible to satisfy this deficit, because otherwise the prices on the Bulgarian Energy Exchange will go high and of course the industry will suffer the most from this thing," said the head of BEH.
