Pekanov: Brussels tells us very sharply how we should stop some energy capacities by 2027

For the most part, the Recovery Plan has been finalized. The problematic parts are in the areas of energy and the rule of law and will have to be resolved urgently in order for it to be handed over. This was stated to BNR by Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov. According to him, there is audibility and understanding in Brussels that "most likely, yes, an official cabinet will have to hand it over."

Pekanov sees the positive effect in the fact that the hands of all subsequent governments will be tied to the implementation of certain reforms. The current version of the document is the fourth. "It is high time to part with our climate illusions - that we have signed all these things, but we will not implement them… We are part of all these processes," the Deputy Prime Minister commented on the program "Before All" on the occasion of already signed agreements and documents. , with which our country is committed.

Pekanov added that "now we are being told very sharply from Brussels" that certain capacities must be taken out by 2027.

Large investors are already interested in whether decarbonisation has taken place where they will invest, he said.

Atanas Pekanov stressed that since in the past people under various transformations felt unsupported and deceived, now they believe that this will happen again. According to him, the topic of poverty and social inequalities in Bulgaria has been neglected and now the Plan has been stopped by a social issue.

"We can't blame our souls - there are fewer jobs in RES than at the moment in the coal industry. That is why we need to find alternatives…To find opportunities for the industry to develop in the region. "

The Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that if emission prices continue to rise, the production of dirty energy will become increasingly inefficient.

Regarding the problems in the area of ​​the rule of law, the Deputy Prime Minister considered the situation difficult. He declared that a balance was being sought between the expectations of the European institutions and the pursuit of realistic reforms.

The Romanian plan was handed over in May, and only a few days ago the negotiations on it were completed, explained Atanas Pekanov.

"I understand the demands for compensation, but in order to find these funds, they go through a budget update," Atanas Pekanov said about the record high electricity prices.

"In some countries, there is not even compensation for business in this case, because these are market processes."

According to Pekanov, the measures of the Council of Ministers to assist in this direction are not populist and "for now these are the possible measures." He does not rule out a direct grant in the winter if the situation worsens due to huge price fluctuations.

The reforms are not gaining publicity in society, summed up Pekanov, who says there is no political audibility on the subject. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed hope to have a regular and stable cabinet, with a vision for at least 4 years.
