PM Borissov, Energy Minister Petkova Open Balkan Stream Gas Pipeline Extension Near Border with Turkey
Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Energy Minister Temenouzhka Petkova attended here the opening of the Balkan Stream gas pipeline extension from the Bulgarian-Turkish border to the Strandja compressor station.
"We are witnessing the commissioning of the first stage of the project for expansion of the gas transmission infrastructure in the country along the Balkan Stream route - 11 kilometers from the Bulgarian-Turkish border to the Strandzha compressor station. This is an extremely important project for our country. , as well as for the whole region and the real result of our active work to keep Bulgaria's strategic place on the gas map of Europe. " This was said by Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova, who is involved in the opening of the first 11 kilometers of gas infrastructure from the Balkan Stream route, cited by the press center of the Ministry of Energy. The project includes a newly constructed gas transmission pipeline and a Strandzha gas metering station, the agency added.

According to Minister Petkova, the project is key to the realization of our concept for the Balkan gas hub. It will provide an opportunity for diversification of gas sources and routes and will increase energy security in the region, Minister Petkova added.
