General Ventsislav Mutafchiyski: Coronavirus infections in Bulgaria total 1,171, with 90 new cases in past 24 hours

The number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Bulgaria is up to 1,171, with 90 new cases in the past 24 hours, said the head of the National Task Force, Major-General Prof. Dr.-med. Ventsislav Mutafchiyski, at the daily briefing at the Council of Ministers, Focus News Agency reports.

Twenty-one of these new patients have been hospitalised, Gen. Mutafchiyski said. “The daily increase in the number of new cases is 8.3%. 890 are active cases. Sofia has 29 new cases, Vidin – 18, Pleven – 12, Blagoevgrad – 11, Kyustendil – 5, Sliven – 5, Ruse – 3, Yambol – 2, Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Vratsa, Pernik and Plovdiv – one each."

"We have 10 new cases of infected children – 3 in Blagoevgrad, Sofia - 2, Vidin - 1, Kyustendil - 1, Pernik - 1, Burgas - 1.
Among healthcare workers, 34 are newly infected, bringing the total to 129, which is 11% of all cases.

"COVID-19 infection has been confirmed in 52 deaths. 270 people are now in hospital, 37 in intensive care units. 193 have recovered, which is 16.5%.
