"A procedure for unit VII will take a long time, at least 10 years, if it starts today. This unit must go its own technological way. And the next three governments must have the same mindset in order to get to someone digging a site for unit VII. This was said to BNR by Bogomil Manchev, Chairman of the Bulgarian Atomic Forum.

The government will launch a project to build unit VII of the Kozloduy NPP. This was announced by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, who was in Kozloduy, accompanied by the ministers of finance and energy.

Manchev also explained the way how this should happen, the construction of a unit of a nuclear power plant: "A choice of technology must be found, on the basis of which an environmental impact assessment report must be prepared. The technology has to be licensed. We need to understand how we will make the block, with what money. "

To BNR, Manchev added: "If the procedure for the Belene NPP continues and the process of licensing some technology of the unit VII is just beginning ..., there must be logic." He stressed that "sometimes the policy is reckless, because energy, if not balanced properly or not properly regulated, can cause enormous damage."
