The Rules of Procedure of the NRA are amended

The Council of Ministers adopted a Decree amending and supplementing the Rules of Procedure of the Nuclear Regulatory Agency. The aim is to optimize the activity of the Agency through changes in the functions of directorates. The general coordination of the development of normative acts will be carried out by the International Cooperation Directorate, which coordinates the implementation of the obligations under international agreements arising from Bulgaria's membership in the European Union and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The functions related to the qualification and qualification of the personnel performing activities in nuclear facilities, as well as the issuance of licenses for specialized training of persons professionally engaged in activities in nuclear facilities and sources of ionizing radiation will be performed by the General Directorate for Nuclear Safety. “.

The functions of providing information, public relations and protocol will be performed by the Directorate of Administrative, Legal, Financial and Business Services, as general administrative functions.

In accordance with the amendments to the Law on Safe Use of Nuclear Energy of February 2020, the control functions of the General Directorate for Nuclear Safety and the Directorate for Safety Analysis and Assessment have been updated and refined with regard to the areas for safeguards and control of facilities with increased danger on the territory of a nuclear power plant.

The changes in the Rules of Procedure will contribute to increasing the efficiency of the Agency in performing its normative functions.
