EWRC proposes: 3.63% average increase in the price of electricity for households, and for steam - by about 0.5%

The Energy and Water Regulation Commission (EWRC) proposes that the price of electricity (current) for the household should rise by an average of 3.63% from July 1.

Regarding thermal energy, the proposal is for an average increase of up to 0.5 percent. This is stated in the reports of the commission for approval of prices in the "Electricity" and "Heating" sectors.

Proposals for electricity prices

The proposal to change the prices of individual companies in the "Electricity" sector is as follows:

"Electrohold Sales" EAD - increase by 3.44%

"EVN Bulgaria Electric Supply" EAD - plus 3.41%

"ENERGO-PRO Sales" AD - with 4.24%

"ESP Golden Sands" OOD - with 18.04%

Weighted average change – plus 3.63%.

The proposals for the prices of heating

In the case of heating companies, the envisaged changes are minimal, it is clear from the EWRC reports.

For "District Heating Sofia", the amendment is for an increase of 0.05% - from BGN 137.86/MWh approved on July 1, 2022 to BGN 137.93/MWh from this July 1 (2023).

Regarding "EVN Bulgaria District Heating" EAD, the proposal is for a change in the direction of increase (+) by 0.14% - from BGN 137.66/MWh in the previous regulatory period to BGN 137.85/MWh for the new regulatory period from July 1 of this year

At District Heating Pleven EAD, for the specified period, a price increase of 0.07% is proposed - from BGN 96.88/MWh to BGN 96.55/MWh.

For "Burgas District Heating", the proposal is for a price increase of 0.28% or from BGN 94.93/MWh to BGN 95.20/MWh.

Regarding Veolia Energy Varna EAD, an increase of 0.35% is proposed - from BGN 136.51/MWh to BGN 136.99/MWh.

For Vratsa District Heating, the proposal is for a minor price increase of only 0.05%, or from BGN 113.15/MWh for this regulatory period to BGN 113.21/MWh for the next one, starting on July 1 of this year.

Regarding "District Heating-VT" AD, an increase of 0.11% is proposed - from BGN 131.68/MWh to BGN 131.82/MWh from 07/01/2023.

For "District Heating Ruse" EAD - heating part, the expected increase is of the order of only 0.09% - from BGN 105.48/MWh for this regulatory period to BGN 105.57/MWh from July 1 of this year.

At "District Heating Pernik" JSC, the proposal is for a price reduction (minus) by 0.66% - from BGN 116.71/MWh to BGN 115.94/MWh.

Regarding "Heating - Sliven-eng. Angel Angelov" EAD, the proposed amendment is for an increase (plus) by 0.26% - from BGN 103.92/MWh to BGN 104.19/MWh.

An increase of 0.36% is proposed for "District Heating - Gabrovo" EAD for the relevant new regulatory period from July 1 of this year. – from BGN 137.51/MWh to BGN 138.00/MWh.

In the case of Razgrad District Heating, the proposal is for an increase of 0.48% - from BGN 144.85/MWh now to BGN 145.54/MWh during the new regulatory period from July 1 of this year.

As is known, the heating companies insisted on a drastic increase. It is apparent from the regulator's proposal that the amendments are symbolic.
