Enery and KCM AD enter into a 12-year partnership for the supply of green energy
The first long-term contract for the supply of green energy in our country is already a fact
The leading producer of lead and zinc in South-Eastern Europe KCM AD concludes a contract for the purchase and sale of electricity with the operator of renewable energy assets Enery for a 12-year period, starting from 2024. KCM AD is an energy-intensive enterprise with an annual electricity consumption of nearly 400 GWh of base energy. With this consumption characteristic, it is possible to realize a balanced mix of energy sources, so as to achieve an optimal degree of sustainability in energy supplies. This was announced by the two companies today in a joint press release.
For KCM AD, this cooperation means a significant leap forward in terms of the company's environmental, social and management strategy. By securing the opportunity to supply green electricity from Enery's new power plant in Bulgaria, the company reinforces its unwavering commitment to society and nature conservation.
Enery's latest Bulgarian solar power plant, developed by the Enery Element joint venture, reflects the company's aim to deliver clean and affordable energy to businesses. With an expected annual production of nearly 200 GWh, the new asset offers industrial partners the opportunity to improve their sustainability practices while optimizing and decarbonizing their energy costs. A green energy supply contract includes a number of benefits, including long-term predictability of electricity costs, a reduced carbon footprint and customized agreements tailored to the customer's requirements. Enery's growing portfolio enables the company to offer green solutions to businesses in Central Europe.
"We consider that the partnership with Enery is the only possible business approach to achieve a sustainable and long-lasting effect of implementing green solutions. The interaction between responsible energy consumers and competent suppliers and producers of green energy is at the heart of achieving the EU's clean energy targets. This contract will enable each party to develop its own competence and knowledge to achieve mutually beneficial business and ESG goals.
We are convinced that today, together with Enery, we are confidently moving towards the implementation of a successful green project in Bulgaria, which will start supplying clean energy next year. We are confident that within its life cycle the project will become a benchmark for best business practices in the implementation of environmental solutions in the EU."
"We are proud to join forces with KCM AD and offer them long-term, reliable and competitive green energy. Our collaboration demonstrates how businesses can come together to achieve energy stability and sustainable environmental protection activities," commented Severin Vertigov, Regional Manager and Chief Commercial Officer of Enery. "Our mission is to deliver reliable and affordable green electricity, and this partnership with KCM AD is fully in line with our vision."

"We remain committed to the realization of partnerships that give impetus to the energy transition by developing renewable energy projects with a positive impact on the environment and society," added Gazdov.
