With another initiative for a decision of the National Assembly, the deputies from GERB-SDS propose that BEH acquire a 20% share in the consortium for the exploration of the "Khan Asparuh" field in the Bulgarian waters of the Black Sea. This is clear from the document published on the website of the Energy Commission of the National Assembly.

The decision envisages that the Minister of Energy will be tasked with conducting negotiations on the terms and conditions under which "Bulgarian Energy Holding" EAD will acquire a 20% share in the consortium, holder of the Contract for the search and exploration of oil and natural gas in the "Block 1-21 Khan Asparukh'.

Point two of the said decision sets a deadline for holding negotiations within 60 days, providing their results to the deputies and entering into force immediately after promulgation in the "State Gazette".

It is noteworthy that among the importers are Boyko Borisov and Delyan Peevski.

Earlier today during the day, MP Dobrev commented that "If the drilling is next year and costs 100 billion euros, and we have a 20% share, then BEH (Bulgarian Energy Holding) will participate with an investment of 20 million euros.".

A week ago, during a hearing, the experts from TotalEnergies explained to the deputies from the energy commission that the expectations for deposits of blue fuel in the Bulgarian waters of the Black Sea are not completely lost. As is known, a study of this kind takes between 5 and 6 years, and sometimes more. Getting to mining takes at least the same amount of time.

At the end of last year, experts commented that there is a lot of natural gas in the "Khan Asparuh" block, but categorically refused to discuss the topic. The Acting Minister of Energy, Rosen Hristov, said some time ago that the research team asked for assistance from the Turkish side for a drilling platform, the only one of its kind in the region. However, the official minister refused the question.

The permission to search and explore for oil and natural gas in "Block 1-21 Khan Asparuh" was extended for two years in April 2022. The then Minister of Energy Alexander Nikolov signed an additional agreement to the contract with representatives of the exploration companies - "Total Energies EP Bulgaria" B.V. and "OMV Offshore Bulgaria" GmbH.
