Our main goal is to rebrand Bulgaria and turn it into an innovation hub for Southeast Europe. This was stated by the Minister of Innovation and Growth, Milena Stoicheva, during the "Annual Meeting of Business with the Government: Expectations and Forecasts for 2024", organized by Capital.
She emphasized that the Ministry of Innovation and Growth is working on a new Investment Promotion Law, which includes modern, European and international investment screening requirements. According to her, MIG is also working on the selection of strategic sectors to which investors should be directed and on the preparation of financial instruments through which Bulgaria will become an attractive destination for investments.
"We have a reason to be a good place for investments, we have the economic parameters - low deficit and debt, good credit rating, 96% growth of investments compared to last year in the same period according to the latest data of the BNB", Minister Stoicheva also said. According to her, our country has the capacity for development in high technologies, the automotive sector, mechatronics, biotechnology, bioeconomy, culture and creative industries and production.
The Minister of Innovation and Growth stated that the scientific and development activity in our country is well developed and that it is the basis for creating innovations. "MIG will support the science-business connection through one of the two European programs it manages. In this way, the interaction between small and medium-sized enterprises and the academic community will be encouraged, so that the innovations, technologies, products and services that are created in our country through scientific and development activities, can be commercialized on the market," emphasized Stoicheva.
