We specified the problem with "Bulgartransgaz", with the 20 leva, how it will be collected, and that there is a risk of "Bulgartransgaz" going bankrupt. This was explained to BTA today by DPS deputy Delyan Peevski, referring to the fee for the transfer of Russian natural gas, which was introduced 10 days ago.

We agreed with Minister Vassilev that we will change the law, so that if Bulgartransgaz does not receive the money from Gazprom, the Ministry of Finance will seek it through the Customs Agency directly from Gazprom and the Russian side, so that there is no risk for the Bulgarian company, explained Peevski.

The concerns and doubts stem from the fact that if Bulgartransgaz fails to collect these contributions, it must pay them, Kiril Temelkov - Deputy Chairman of the Bulgarian Gas Association and former director of Bulgartransgaz - said on BNR. According to him, the law is "absolutely unclear" in this part.

"If Gazprom refuses to pay or declares that it will not comply with the law - what happens, Temelkov asks. Then Bulgartransgaz remains the obligated party. It is these studies of the relationship between the Bulgartransgaz - Gazprom contract and the study of possible behaviors both with regard to gas suppliers and importers in Bulgaria, and with regard to the influence on third countries - this should be done by competent authorities who will examine all the information necessary to make the analysis", commented the former director of " Bulgartransgaz".
