Minister Bogdanov discussed options for investment in our country by a South Korean company specializing in energy and infrastructure projects
Positioning of South Korean companies in the industrial zones in our country and realization of projects with public-private partnership were among the topics of the meeting
The opportunities for investments in our country and the activation of bilateral cooperation in a number of sectors, including automotive, energy, transport, information and communication technologies, healthcare and innovation. These topics were discussed by the Minister of Economy and Industry Bogdan Bogdanov and representatives of the largest company for the implementation of infrastructure and energy projects in South Korea. The company's experts are visiting our country, the Ministry of Economy and Industry announced.
The foreign delegation was accompanied by the ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Bulgaria, His Excellency Mr. Bae Jongin. We remind you that Minister Bogdanov was on a working visit to South Korea at the end of last year and invited the company's representatives to visit our country, where they can learn about investment opportunities and potential partnerships.
Emphasis in the conversation was placed on the positioning of South Korean companies in industrial zones in our country, as well as on the implementation of joint projects in Bulgaria. The Minister of Economy and Industry emphasized to the representatives of the Korean giant the competitive advantages that our country offers to investors, pointing out the presence of good experts and the strategic location of our country, which will encourage the successful entry of Korean companies into the European market. Through Bulgaria, companies will be close to their Western customers, while at the same time having access to key resources and expertise.
Within the framework of the meeting, the possibilities for the implementation of projects with a public-private partnership were also discussed, with the Minister of Economy pointing out that our country is a driving force for a large part of the important infrastructure projects for the region.
"We are working on the construction of an investment portal, which aims to shorten the investment process and facilitate companies' access to general information about the opportunities that Bulgaria offers," announced Bogdanov. In this way, communication between businesses and all government institutions will be facilitated. The Minister of Economy also indicated the mechanisms for regional aid, pointing out that in regions with higher unemployment, where new jobs must be created, the thresholds for state aid are higher.
"Bulgaria is becoming more and more attractive for investors. We report record investments in 2023. not only to new companies, but also to those that reinvest in our country," said Bogdanov.
The minister emphasized that the signing of the Memorandum on bilateral trade and investment stimulation between the countries is imminent, and efforts are being made to make this happen during the meeting of the Bulgarian-Korean Commission for Economic Cooperation this year in our country.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Economy Nikolay Pavlov and the executive directors of the State Consolidation Company (SCC) and the National Company of Industrial Zones (NCIZ) Ivan Zangochev and Konstantin Palaveev.
