Minister Malinov: Hydrogen technologies will provide reliable, affordable and clean energy
"The development of hydrogen technologies in energy will provide an answer to the challenges related to climate change. Their application will ensure reliable, affordable and clean energy in the future." This was said by the Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov at the beginning of the days of hydrogen electromobility in Bulgaria. The event is part of the European campaign to promote hydrogen technologies in transport in Central and Eastern Europe.
"The energy sector is placed in a new context - the requirements to protect the environment and deal with climate change, the volatile electricity market, as well as the war in Ukraine. Finding an alternative source of green energy, such as hydrogen, and its application in various fields of industry is of key importance," said Minister Malinov. He recalled that the Bulgarian gas transmission operator "Bulgartransgaz" EAD is working on several different projects in the field of hydrogen, which will provide new perspectives for the Bulgarian energy sector. "Bulgartransgaz", together with the operator of Greece, developed a project for the construction of an infrastructure for the transfer of hydrogen from Greece to Bulgaria, which in the future will be extended to Romania. It is included in the EC's list of projects of common interest and we count on it receiving funding," Malinov emphasized. "We are also developing a pilot project that will be implemented in the underground gas storage "Chiren" and will allow the use of green hydrogen for our own needs," the energy minister added.
Minister Malinov expressed confidence that in our country hydrogen technologies will continue to develop in order to establish themselves as clean and affordable energy.
