Dimitar Nedyalkov: MTS supports the development and implementation of hydrogen technologies in the transport sector
The Ministry of Transport and Communications supports the development and implementation of hydrogen technologies in the transport sector. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Dimitar Nedyalkov during the official opening of the Days of Hydrogen Electromobility in Sofia.
"Road transport is one of the main polluters of the environment, especially in cities. Therefore, it is necessary to look for more opportunities to promote the use of clean vehicles and those with zero emissions, such as hydrogen buses," the deputy minister pointed out. He noted that in recent years, more and more municipalities are focusing on renewing the fleet with environmentally friendly vehicles. "In the future, hydrogen technology would find its place in urban transport systems. This will significantly contribute to limiting harmful emissions and pollution from transport," added Dimitar Nedyalkov.
The days of hydrogen electromobility in Bulgaria, July 16-26, are part of the European campaign to popularize hydrogen technologies in transport in Central and Eastern Europe. On June 16, a demonstration hydrogen electric bus arrived in Sofia, which started the days of hydrogen electromobility. The hydrogen bus will transport all passengers for free from June 18 to 20 in Sofia on trolleybus line 9 and on June 26 in Stara Zagora on bus line 20.
The organizer of the event is the Bulgarian Association for Hydrogen, Fuel Cells and Energy Storage (BGH2A), with the financial support of the Clean Hydrogen Joint Venture and under the JIVE 1 and 2 project for 300 new zero-emission fuel cell buses and the construction of a connecting charging infrastructure in 6 member states of the European Union.
