The MPs rejected Pavela Miteva's proposal on the draft decision to instruct the Minister of Energy to remove the steam generators from the equipment prepared for Belene, which is subject to negotiations for sale to Ukraine pending an analysis of their application for the needs of the Kozloduy NPP ".

This is another attempt by some of the people's representatives to reformat the negotiations with the Ukrainian side, including stopping the sale of the equipment for the Belene NPP project. At the beginning of August, the people's representatives rejected the BSP's proposal to end the negotiations.

In the framework of the debate, Pavela Mitova, the submitter from "There is such a people", justified her proposal with the need to have the steam generators, in case it is necessary to replace the one on unit 6 of the Kozloduy NPP, due to the defects that have become more frequent recently. Her proposal envisages the preparation of a detailed analysis.

BSP MP Dragomir Stoynev supported Mitova's proposal, who explained that it may turn out that our country needs this equipment and urged not to rush. He once again raised the question of how a country at war could build a nuclear power plant, and Bulgaria - not, and questioned the "goals and interest" of the defenders of the thesis for continuing the negotiations. "I still can't imagine that a country at war will build a nuclear power plant!" he declared, reminding that this equipment was paid for by the Bulgarian taxpayers and will be sold without it being clear whether it will be compatible.

According to him, the debate should be different and should be directed, including the possibility of producing more electricity, which our country sells to Ukraine, and the negotiations with the Ukrainian side should be stopped until the end of the war.

"I, in the committee (energy committee of the National Assembly) did not get the impression that we know what the steam generators will be used for", commented the MP from PP-DB Radoslav Rybarski. He once again defended his idea that it is not the job of the people's representatives to deal with details concerning the operation of the nuclear power plant in Kozloduy. "You have chosen an interesting day for debate," he noted, referring to the 50th anniversary of the Kozloduy NPP.

People's representative Krasimira Katincharova, for her part, defined the sale of the equipment as a "crime". In her words, "we have to stop selling and see how we can use them." Once again, she raised the issue of the proposal submitted by her to resume the construction of the Belene NPP, accusing the chairman of the energy committee of the parliament of not including it for consideration.

Ivelin Parvanov from "Vazrazhdane" also announced his support for the proposal of Pavela Mitova from ITN and insisted that "negotiations stop immediately". In his speech, he pointed out that there had been reports of defections since 2004 and called the lack of measures in the past 20 years irresponsible. The deputy also expressed suspicion that an attempt is being made to separate the equipment for the Belene NPP, so that this plant "cannot be built at all".

Deputies from GERB did not take part in the discussion. Pavela Mitova's words that her proposal does not contradict the decision made earlier by GERB to postpone the negotiations for 180 days did not change the situation. Its request to remove the steam generators from the Belene NPP equipment during the sale negotiations with the Ukrainian side was not accepted.

The proposal on the draft decision by Pavela Mitova was also rejected earlier by the Energy Commission of the National Assembly.
