The financial problems of Sofia District Heating will be discussed today in the Ministry of Energy
A meeting is expected to be held in the Ministry of Energy today because of the financial problems of Sofia District Heating. The mayor of Sofia, Vasil Terziev, and the management of the capital's heating system were invited to the meeting with Minister Vladimir Malinov. The reason for the meeting was the garnishment imposed on one of the accounts of Sofia District Heating. He was appointed at the request of the state-owned "Bulgargaz" because of unpaid current bills for consumed natural gas.
On Friday, the head of Bulgargaz, Veselin Sinabov, explained that the current liabilities of the capital's heating system amount to more than BGN 800 million. And the heating system itself paid the sums too slowly during the summer season, which forced the state gas company to take foreclosure.
The capital heating plant has had financial problems for years and is constantly operating at a loss. Bulgargaz is the main creditor of the company. To solve the problems with the heating plant, there is even an option for the Bulgarian Energy Holding to acquire a shareholding in the stalled municipal company.
