Bulgarian caretaker Minister Vladimir Malinov presented Bulgaria's policies regarding geothermal energy in Brussels. In the presence of the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency and his colleagues from the bloc, the minister expressed satisfaction that the global institution has adopted most of the goals that our country has set in this direction.
Malinov said that the government has already developed a number of regulatory changes, the vision set out in the Integrated Energy and Climate Plan. In addition, investments are mainly in key geothermal heating and cooling projects.
Active work is underway to provide financial support to launch the planned geothermal energy projects more quickly. Among the possible sources are the Recovery and Sustainability Mechanism, the Modernization Fund and other programs. Bulgaria will also rely on the key support of the European Union.
Bulgaria supports the idea that there should be a unified decarbonization strategy, linked to European plans,” Malinov also said.
