Zhecho Stankov took over as Minister of Energy in the government led by Rosen Zhelyazkov. During his meeting with his predecessor Vladimir Malinov, Minister Stankov outlined the main priorities in the work of the Ministry of Energy. Among them are efforts to ensure the country's energy security, with an emphasis on the stability and sustainability of the energy infrastructure.

In the context of continuing serious volatility in electricity prices in the region, additional efforts are needed to compensate non-household consumers. This is of paramount importance for blocking inflationary processes and protecting household incomes by limiting factors for price growth, Minister Stankov emphasized.

The measures to stabilize and develop the Bulgarian energy sector, including through the construction of new nuclear capacities and combined cycle power plants, as well as the support of coal-fired power plants in the country to ensure energy stability, have no alternative, Minister Stankov also emphasized.

The team of the Ministry of Energy will work actively to create conditions for attracting investments in the energy sector. The accelerated integration of European legislation related to energy from renewable sources is also among the priorities indicated by the Minister of Energy.

Participation in key EU energy initiatives, as a leading condition for the country's leadership in forming regional positions for Southeast Europe in the sector, is a factor for the full and successful protection of national interests in the sector, Minister Stankov emphasized.
