The possibilities for activating cooperation in the field of trade and investment between Bulgaria and Kazakhstan were discussed by the Minister of Economy and Industry Petar Dilov and the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Bulgaria H.E. Viktor Temirbayev.

At the meeting, it became clear that trade between Bulgaria and Kazakhstan increased fourfold in 2024.

The two agreed on the opinion that there is serious unrealized potential in trade and economic relations. Minister Dilov and Ambassador Temirbayev emphasized that bilateral cooperation can be deepened in sectors such as the development of transit and transport potential, agriculture, energy and green technologies, critical raw materials, pharmaceutical products, etc.

Minister Dilov pointed out that there are real opportunities to increase mutual supplies of goods and upgrade economic cooperation between the two countries. “We believe that our country has the potential to increase its exports to Kazakhstan of a number of goods,” emphasized Minister Dilov. According to him, more joint initiatives should be carried out, in which both business representatives and institutions from both countries can participate.

For his part, Ambassador Temirbayev identified Bulgaria as an important strategic partner for Kazakhstan in Southeast Europe and emphasized that with the election of a regular government, bilateral relations will receive new impetus. He pointed out that Kazakhstan is in the top 6 trade partners of Bulgaria outside the EU for 2024. According to him, the Bulgarian-Kazakhstan Chamber of Commerce and Industry will also contribute to deepening economic relations between the two countries.

The two also discussed organizing a meeting of the bilateral Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, to be held in our country in the first half of this year. Minister Dilov proposed that the session be combined with a business forum in previously agreed priority sectors of interest to both countries.

The Minister of Economy and Ambassador Temirbayev were categorical that the holding of the Fifth Session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation is an important tool for promoting trade, economic and investment relations between the two countries.
