Minister Zhecho Stankov: Own production would provide the cheapest natural gas for Bulgaria

Own production would provide the cheapest natural gas for Bulgaria. This was stated by the Minister of Energy Zhecho Stankov at a meeting with representatives of "OMV Petrom" - a subsidiary of the Austrian OMV. The meeting discussed the prospects for oil and gas exploration in Block 1-21 Khan Asparuh, located in Bulgaria's exclusive economic zone in the Black Sea. Minister Stankov emphasized that the development of a local field would guarantee the energcompetitiveness y security of the country and the region, as well as contribute to increasing the of Bulgarian domestic and industrial consumers.

During the meeting, Rob Dobbins, Head of International Relations and Assets at OMV Petrom, presented the main stages in the implementation of exploration activities in the block.

The conversation focused on the great potential of the block in the Black Sea and expressed confidence in achieving good results. Minister Zhecho Stankov was categorical that local extraction would ensure diversification of the sources of energy resources, guaranteeing national energy independence.
