Head of State Rumen Radev and EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso discussed investments in the development of transport connectivity and energy

The promotion of investments in expanding transport connectivity and in the energy sector was discussed at a meeting today by Head of State Rumen Radev and President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Renaud-Basso. She is visiting our country in the context of the preparation of the bank's new five-year strategy for our country.
During the meeting, Bulgaria's potential to establish itself as a center for storing energy from renewable sources in the Southeast European region was discussed, including through the construction of PAVEC capacities and the effective use of geothermal energy. Investments in this direction will contribute not only to improving the energy security of our country, but will also support the energy balance in the region, said Rumen Radev.
During the conversation, projects were also discussed to expand transport connectivity in Southeast Europe in order to increase the competitiveness and economic growth of the region. President Radev highlighted good optical connectivity, digital infrastructure, the presence of specialists in the IT sector and energy diversification as key prerequisites for attracting large-scale investments in our country in the field of artificial intelligence such as gigafactories and centers for storing and processing data of the latest generation.
